Pic. 7.1. Symptom #1
Preliminary Troubleshooting
Before troubleshooting the cruise control system, check the following components and parts, and if their condition is not correct, repair the malfunctions.
Check the correct connection and routing of the control cables and vacuum hoses (the vacuum pump of the cruise control system, the electric drive of the cruise control system and the electric drive sector of the cruise control system).
Check for smooth movement of the cruise control motor assembly and cruise control cable.
Check for excessive free play and excessive tension on the control cables.
Troubleshooting procedures
First determine the nature of the symptom of the problem by «Troubleshooting algorithm based on their symptoms», below. Assess the condition of all circuits.
Perform the following preliminary checks:
- check the correct installation of the electric cruise control system and the accelerator pedal cable. check that the control cables and transmission mechanisms are securely connected to each other;
- check the smooth movement of the accelerator pedal;
- adjust the accelerator pedal cable so that there is no excessive free play and excessive cable tension;
- check that the wiring connectors for the cruise control motor, cruise control master switch, cruise control master switch, and wiring connectors for all cruise control override switches are securely and correctly connected.
Carry out the test in the sequence given in «Troubleshooting algorithm by their symptoms».
If no faulty components are found during inspection, replace the cruise control electronics.
