Some phenomena occurring during diagnostics of the ABS system
| Phenomenon | Explanation of the phenomenon |
| Sound when checking the system's functionality | When starting the engine, sometimes a dull sound may be heard from the engine compartment. This is a sign that the ABS system is undergoing control procedures |
| Sounds of ABS system operation | 1. Sound of the pump motor inside the ABS hydraulic unit (howling sound).
2. Sound accompanied by vibration of the brake pedal (scraping). 3. When the ABS system is operating, sounds from the vehicle's input section occur as a result of periodic pressing and releasing of the brake pedal (brake on and off). (Thud: suspension: squeak: tires) |
| ABS system operation (long braking distance) | On gravel and snowy roads, the braking distance of a car with ABS may sometimes exceed that of a car with standard brakes. Therefore, we recommend that drivers do not be overconfident and, for safety reasons, reduce their speed when driving on such roads |
| Pulsating sensation on the brake pedal | Pulsation on the brake pedal is a sign of normal operation of the ABS system |
* The phenomena listed in the table that occur during normal operation of the ABS system are not abnormal. The conditions for detecting malfunctions during diagnosis may vary depending on the diagnostic trouble codes. When rechecking the symptoms of malfunctions (after clearing the diagnostic trouble codes), make sure that the check conditions specified in the "Comments" after the diagnostic trouble codes listed below have been met.
