Vehicle speed sensor (Mitsubishi Matrix)

0
The acceleration sensor is used to detect road irregularities. The sensor signal is used by the engine control unit to prevent erroneous misfiring. The vehicle speed sensor is a Hall sensor mounted opposite the gearbox output shaft. The sensor converts the gearbox shaft rotation frequency into a pulse signal sent to the engine control unit.

Conditions for storing fault codes

At P1307

The ECU stores a fault code in memory and turns on the engine management system malfunction indicator lamp if the acceleration sensor signal voltage is below 1.5 V or above 3.5 V in two driving cycles.

The output of this code indicates that the sensor is reporting driving on an extremely rough or extremely smooth road.

At P1308, P1309

The ECU stores a fault code and turns on the engine management system malfunction indicator lamp if the acceleration sensor shows acceleration of 0.3 g or more at zero vehicle speed in two driving cycles. The output of this code indicates that the acceleration sensor is sending a jolt signal from a road bump to the ECU at zero vehicle speed.
